Project Overview

Case study-NDT with North Star Imaging (NSI), a leader in Non-destructive X-ray imaging, embarked on an ambitious project to build a state-of-the-art facility and vault to house a 9 MeV 3D/4D X-ray scan system. This system is pivotal for supporting the aerospace and defense industry, enabling the precise and Non-destructive imaging of large and dense parts.

Nature of Work
NSI specializes in various types of Non-destructive X-ray imaging. The newly built facility enhances their capability to scan larger, denser parts with remarkable precision. The design includes a highly accessible entrance to accommodate large-scale materials and equipment, streamlining the scanning process and improving overall efficiency.

Veritas Shielding Solutions was chosen for this project due to its renowned precision in radiation shielding solutions. Their flexible, space-saving modular system, VeriShield® Modular Radiation Shielding, was a significant factor in the decision. Atlas SmartDoor®: A Remarkable Feature
A standout feature of the vault is the Veritas Atlas SmartDoor. Measuring 10 feet 5 inches wide, 9 feet 9 inches tall, and 20 inches thick, this 100,000-pound door opens in approximately 10 seconds and operates with remarkable quietness. Its engineering, efficiency, and smooth operation have left a lasting impression on all who witness it.
